A Dermal Peel also known as Chemical Peel, is a treatment used to improve the texture of the skin.
Dermal or Chemical peels are intended to remove the outermost layers of the skin by chemically exfoliating the skin. To accomplish this task, the chosen peel solution induces a controlled injury to the skin which causes the body to react by initiating the natural healing process promoting new skin cells to come to the surface of the skin resulting in a fresher, clearer skin.
Chemical Exfoliation VS a Physical / Manual Exfoliaiton?
A Physical exfoliation work on the outermost layer of the skin giving an immediate result, this usually requires scrubbing or rubbing of the skin. A Physical or Manual exfoliation work on speeding up the cell turn over by removing the dead cell build up from the surface of the skin, this can leave your skin feeling soft, smooth and clear.
A Chemical Exfoliation uses mild acids or enzymes to deeply exfoliate the skin, this usually doesn’t require scrubbing or rubbing of the skin. At Urban Spa we have a Peel to suit most skin types and concerns, which also range from mild to medical grade strength. When these ingredients are applied to skin, they gently dissolve the ‘glue’ that cements dead skin cells together. This can give an immediate result but also sometimes the result can take up to 3 weeks to see the best results depending on the depth of the Peel.
Is it suitable for my skin?
Chemical Peels can treat a lot of different skin concerns including: Dry skin, Dehydrated, Pigmentation including sun damage and Melasma, Breakouts, Acne, Scarring, Blackheads and congestion, even sensitive skin including rosacea.
What is the down time?
Each Peel will be different, the higher grade Peel you use will require more down time, this will always be discussed with you before your treatment so you are aware of what to expect after your treatment.
How many treatments do I need?
This will depend on your main concern, condition of your skin and results you are after, I would say anywhere between 3-6 regular treatments to treat most skin concerns. We would also create you a maintenance plan and home care routine to ensure your results are long lasting and maintained.
How long will it take to see results?
You can see results straight after your treatment however, with some of the more medical grade peels results can take up to 3 weeks to see your best results.
How long will my results last?
The results can last for 12 months after you finish your treatment plan, to increase the time your results last we recommend maintenance treatments and our Urban Spa home care.
